Plasma fibroblast treatment aftercare

Directly after your treatment

  • You can resume normal activities immediately after your treatment.

  • A sensation like sunburn is often felt, if you feel particularly aware of the treatment area paracetamol can be taken, avoid Ibuprofen as this can increase swelling.

  • You will leave the treatment with tiny carbon dots – Do not rub, scratch, pick, peel or pull at the carbon crusts, it is essential that you wait for these to flake away naturally. If the area itches I recommend gently tapping the area with clean fingertips not nails.

  • Leave the treated area for the first 6 hours post-procedure.

  • After 6 hours, apply MicroGel 2-3 times daily using a clean cotton bud for 7-14 days post-procedure. The skin may feel slightly ‘tacky’ after application, as a result of the hydrating formula; this prevents the skin from drying out and forming a hard ‘crust’ before fully healing.

  • Continue to take Vitamin C and Arnica to promote healing and reduce swelling.

1-5 days after treatment

  • The day after treatment there may be some swelling and fluid retention, especially around the eyes. A dry cold compress is a great way to mitigate this. However, swelling is not a bad thing and is a natural part of the healing process, so don’t try to “treat” it with anything other than cold compress and only use that if you feel you really need to. The eye area is the most prone to swelling, so do expect it and allow yourself a full 24 hours to let this subside.

  • Keep the carbon dots dry for 2 days. Do not cover them with any ointment, salve, oil, lotion or any other topical application other than the aftercare provided.

  • Do not apply makeup or concealers for a minimum of two full days, preferably until the carbon dots have shed.

  • Keep the carbon dots free from clothing, towelling etc.

  • Keep the carbon dots OUT OF THE SUN

  • Only apply Membrane Postcare Gel and a medicated concealer to the treatment area

  • The area must be kept free from all cosmetics and makeup including Mascara, creams, lotions and oils other than the recommended aftercare products provided.

  • Cleanse the area twice daily with saline or cooled boiled water by gently dabbing the area (DO NOT RUB) to avoid a build up of bacteria. Do not use alcohol based cleansers or apply plasters or dressings as this can slow the healing process.

  • Expect some swelling for 1-5 days after treatment (recovery times differ depending on factors like your age and general health) this is a normal reaction and part of the initial stages of the healing and rejuvenation process. Typically expect swelling to be worse on day 2-3 and will have subsided by day 5.

  • Especially in the eye area, swelling peaks upon waking, first thing in the morning. Over the course of the first 1-3 days, it is normal for the swelling to migrate down into the under eye area. This will subside generally through day 3 and be mostly normal by day 4.

  • The area will feel hot, like a sunburn for about the first 24 hours. This is normal. The sensation should subside after through the first 24 hours and by the second day shouldn’t feel hot anymore.

  • Treatment area will feel tight both immediately after the procedure and for the first 2 to 4 days.

  • There may be some weeping, this is normal and part of your bodies natural healing.

  • You will likely experience the area feeling slightly itchy from about days 2-5.

After 5 days

  • After 10 days please ensure you apply a minimum of SPF30 daily on the treatment area to avoid pigmentation.

  • Avoid any direct sun exposure for 6 weeks

  • Around day 5 the dots will begin to shed naturally, on their own, and this will continue for around 7-10 days. Allow this shedding to happen naturally, do not encourage or force this process.

  • By day 10 your carbon dots should be gone and you can resume your usual skin care, physical activity and makeup use as normal.

  • It is very important to keep the area out of direct sunlight for 6 weeks.

Please contact me or your GP if the area becomes hot, red or shows any signs of infection.

2 review appointments must be booked after 6 weeks and again at 12 weeks.

Additional treatments can only be performed on the same area a minimum of 12 weeks prior.
